Biska from a Magic Land
BISKA is a type of herbal brandy typical of Istria. Its origins date back to Celtic times, therefore the secret of its more than 2000-year-old recipe cannot be revealed straightaway.
BISKA is Istrian for white mistletoe, a plant the Celts believed to have magical properties. Its miraculous powers could heal wounds, cure illnesses and protect your home against spells and evil spirits. This is why mistletoe stands for „it heals everything” in Celtic. The Celts believed that BISKA was a source of good luck.
Mistletoe is also a symbol of love. At Christmas, we hang it above the entrance door to kiss our visitors under it and then, when seated at the table, we offer them magical BISKA, the elixir of good health.
Nowadays it has been proved that Istrian BISKA, in which the white mistletoe plant meets home-made brandy, regulates high blood pressure, heart and liver functions, blood circulation and that it also relaxes. Only when used in moderation, of course.
BISKA’s home is Istria – a magical land. It has lent its name to a new golf resort which will open its doors for you in 2010. We suggest you reserve your piece of land today.
