A Court for Amateur and Professional Players

The golf course in the Fratar woods will be located near the Adriatic coastline and will spread around 76 Ha of the intact Istria. The construction of the 18-hole golf course will follow the latest European and world standards in construction and ecological design, and will test the best players under tournament conditions while it will still provide enjoyable challenge for all other levels of golfers.

Interesting Play

However, BISKA golf course will not be designed only for professional players. The multiple landscapes of the course provide an all round test of golfers’ skills and there is a need for accurate approach play, not only to find the green, but playing the ball close to the hole is also paramount. The course tests all ranges of different shot types, from high flying pitches to low running long irons.  The golfer who scores best will be the one who can manufacture shots according to the pin positions of the day.

 

The Environment as a Primary Concern

Golf has strong interaction with the environment and a proper understanding of environmental aspects is fundamental to good golf course management. Since the beginning of the project, we have paid special attention to all technical environmental issues linked to golf. Therefore, the main idea behind the BISKA golf course is the integration of the course into the existing natural habitat, respecting the natural landscape and minimizing the interference in the beautiful lowland range of Istria.

In short, to be a good golf course manager, one must also be a good environmental manager. The two go hand in hand.

BISKA golf course was designed by a breakthrough British golf designer team called European Golf Design, with the director Jeremy Slessor personally involved in the project. Already three of their golf courses have been voted as the best new courses in Europe and two are named in the top 100 courses of the World. EGD is also the proud designer of the Ryder Cup 2010 golf course, Celtic Manor - The Twenty Ten Course in Wells.
